10 Maintenance Tips to Extend the Life of Your Tubeformer
Proper maintenance keeps your spiral tubeformer running at peak performance for years. Follow these 10 essential maintenance practices from our service engineers.
A well-maintained spiral tubeformer can deliver 15+ years of reliable service. Here are 10 maintenance tips from our field engineers:
- Daily Lubrication: Lubricate all moving parts — forming rollers, cutting blades, and guide rails — with the specified grease or oil at the start of each shift.
- Clean After Each Run: Remove metal shavings and debris from the forming area, cutting zone, and electrical cabinet vents. Buildup causes premature wear and overheating.
3. Check Belt Tension: Drive belts should deflect 10–15mm under moderate finger pressure. Adjust monthly or when slippage is observed.
4. Inspect Cutting Blades: Slitter blades should produce clean, burr-free cuts. Hone or replace blades when you notice rough edges or increased cutting force.
5. Verify Alignment: Periodically check that the forming mould, coil holder, and cutting station are properly aligned. Misalignment causes uneven duct seams and ovality.
6. Monitor Electrical Connections: Vibration can loosen terminal connections. Quarterly inspection of the control cabinet prevents unexpected downtime.
7. Calibrate Length Measurement: The encoder-driven length measurement should be verified monthly against a known reference. Accumulated error leads to wasted material.
8. Replace Wear Parts Proactively: Rollers, bearings, and wear plates have finite life. Replace before catastrophic failure — scheduled downtime is far cheaper than emergency repairs.
9. Keep Spare Parts Stock: Maintain a minimum inventory of critical spares — blades, bearings, belts, fuses, and sensors. This reduces downtime from weeks to hours.
10. Annual Professional Service: Schedule a yearly inspection by a qualified technician. They can identify developing issues before they become costly breakdowns.
